Orchard Road c.p, Forres

Starting from the Orchard Road c.p, the route to the Rafford v.h cafe goes through the Sanquhar Woods & then on the Dava Way to Woodside & then skirting the Rafford Wood for late morning refreshments. After a snack, the route heads up Sourbank to Burgie Hill for a great view to Speyside, Cairngorms & the Moray Firth. From here it is all on forestry tracks that traverse Heldon Hill & then drops down to a single track road at Garrowslack. North on the public road to Clovenside Carden Hill, before descending to the Snug cafe in Alvis. Coffee & cakes here until the next regular bus back to Forres, or stride back to Forres via minor roads and Burgie Arboretum

General Notes
This is a stride out walk, so the pace should be about 3.5mph. The walk is on good paths & tracks except for the short field section to Burgie Hill

4 members and 2 guests completed the 15 mile section from Forres to Alves via the Rafford Village Hall community cafe at a good 3.7mph pace. 3 members opted to walk back to the Forres start point via the quiet back roads to the south of the A96. Visiting the Burgie Distillery and the Burgie Abroritum on their route back to the start point in Forres.
