Walk Report
This was a 20.6 mile circular route starting from the Dava settlement. Heading East towards past Aittendow Farm to join the Via Regia heritage track that used to be the main medieval road from Grantown to Forres. There is more info on the Via Regia route on the Scotsway web site. In glorious sunshine, we made our way south down the Via Regia past the isolated farm ruin of Badahad and down the winding track towards the Castle Grant parklands, with magnificent views of Speyside and the Cairngorms beyond. The walk through the Castle Grant parklands was punctuated by historical buildings and structures, as well as many majestic avenues of trees. An energy replenishing lunch at Grantown-on-spey was taken at the Maclean's cafe in the square, before heading west to join the Dava Way back to Dava. The pace on this well maintained trackbed picked up a bit and we managed to increase our overall average moving speed to 3.5mph. A very good day with much of interest to see and talk about. Well done and thank you to Murray and Mark for your company.Other Files
