Hi everyone,
I hope it's not too warm for you at present. If so, there's plenty to keep you indoors, i.e. the Olympics. I'm trying to be selective with my viewing, otherwise I'll waste hours watching, and not doing the important stuff!
Firstly a plea from our walks secretary, Lucy Robins. Our walks programme is looking a bit thin at present. Please can you join me in submitting walks for the remainder of the year, to her at wiltshire.walkssecretary@ldwa.org.uk.
There are two group social walks scheduled this month. The first, led by Clare Staff, sees the return of the Thursday pub lunch social. The second celebrates Lucy's 50th birthday with a 50-mile route planned. I hope to be out on both.
I also need to advise you that next year's Pewsey Downsaround is scheduled to take place on 27th April 2025, directly following the Bath Beat. The date of the Ridgeway 40 is set for 10th May 2025, for those wishing to take part or help out.
Flower of Suffolk Hundred
Next year's 100 will take pace in Suffolk, based in Ipswich. We know there are a number of group members who are thinking about 'doing the Hundred' next year.
We have been asked if we can support one of the checkpoints next year. Before giving a response to the organizers we would need to have an idea as to the number of volunteers we might have available. This message is to ask members to please let Andy Todd know if they are willing to volunteer. Once we have an idea of numbers we can then send a response to the organizers. Volunteers are also wanted to help at the start with meeting and greeting.
There is an option, if people are interested, in combining this with a few extra days in the area beforehand to do some walking.
Also if anyone is prepared to act as a group point of contact for the Hundred then also please let Andy know.
Forthcoming Walks
Finally, here's the usual look ahead to all the group walks and challenge events that are taking place this month within a 50-mile radius of Chippenham.
This e-mail has been sent to 550+ Primary and Associate group members. If you wish to opt out of receiving e-mails from us, you will need to change your e-mail preferences by logging onto the LDWA website.
That's it for another newsletter. All our newsletters are available via the Wiltshire LDWA website. If you have anything to contribute to future editions, please can you get it to me by the 20th of each month. I look forward to seeing you out on our group walks this month.
Warmest regards
Clive
