The loop goes on the moors to the South of Castleton to reach the source of the River Esk. It leads to Danby Dale, Rosedale Head & Blakey Ridge, then passes through the remains of Esklets, a medieval sheep farm & onto Westerdale before returning to Castleton

A variety of countryside from open moorland to riverside pastures with around 2,200ft of ascent. Moderate pace
