How many hours of daylight will there be on the walk?

You may have heard of 'Da Simmer Dim'.  In Shetland and Orkney, these are the long summer nights between mid-May and mid-July.

In Speyside, we're a little further south, but we still get long daylight hours.

The Speyside Team have checked and found out that on the night of 25th - 26th May 2024, at Boat of Garten,

  • Sunset is at 21:48
  • It will stay moderately light until 22:47 (this is 'civil twilight' where the sun is no more than 6 degrees below the horizon)
  • Between 22:47 and 03:35 will be in 'nautical twilight' with the sun between 6 and 12 degrees below the horizon.
  • It will begin to get lighter at 03:35 (entering 'civil twilight' again)
  • Sunrise is at 04:35

There's a full moon on 23rd May.  The moon will rise at 00:03 and set at 04:47  but it won't get much above the horizon so with all the hills around we may not see it.
