2026 is the 30th anniversary of the formation of the Heart of England Local Group. To celebrate this milestone we have a 30 mile Canter.

HS2 has come to the Birmingham Canal Canter so an amendment to the 30 mile route means we will not be visiting Spaghetti Junction this time. Do not worry we will see the underside of a motorway it is just the M5 not the M6. You get to explore the nature and bridges of Galton Valley

For a change we are going the old way round (clockwise). The starts will be between 08:00 and 10:00 for all routes (possibly a rolling start).

It is up to the entrant to start at a time that allows them to reach the checkpoints between their opening times.

Start and finish - Birmingham Moseley Rugby Club, Billesley Common, Yardley Wood Road, Moseley, Birmingham, B13 0TR - Plenty of parking.

Navigation is not challenging.

The course is mainly mud free and there are no stiles and only one kissing gate on the 30 mile route and none on the other routes.

You will pass many landmarks and find a traffic free route into and out of the center of the city. Trees, buildings, artwork and wildlife add to the changing view through the day.
The vast majority of the routes are on paths along the River Cole or canal tow paths. There will be drinks and snacks around the course at 4, 3 or 2 checkpoints depending on the route.
There will be a two course meal at the finish. Route descriptions and GPX. files will be available nearer the event.
Details of the check point opening and closing times will be supplied nearer the event time.
