This walk follows the Third Ring of Shap route (see LDWA website). The walk follows Wainwright's Coast-to-Coast route out of Shap for several miles before leaving it to explore the National Nature Reserve of Great Asby Scar in classic limestone country east of the Lake District National Park. It returns on the Westmorland Way, passing through Crosby Ravensworth and Oddendale on the way back to Shap. Lunch and possible pub stop at Great Asby. Total of 796 m of ascent over 31.9 km (or 2611 feet in 20 miles)

Advanced booking is not required, but, if possible, please let us know that you are coming in advance. Please do not attend if you think you may have Covid or have been in recent contact with someone who is infectious
