Open to Offas 2026

Merseystride's annual challenge event in the Clwydian Hills on the Flintshire/Denbighshire border will take place on Saturday 8th August. We will be offering three routes open to both runners and walkers. All routes start from Cilcain Village Hall.

The 32 mile (50 km) route starts at 8am, the 24 mile at 8:30am and the 16 mile at 9:30am.

Entries online via SI entries cost £14 for LDWA members (£12 before 01/06/25) and £20 for non-members (£18 before 01/06/26). Entries close Tuesday 5th August 2025.

Cost includes car parking, refreshments during the day and a certificate. Please bring a mug for drinks at checkpoints. 

All routes start from Cilcain and head into the Clwydian Hills using the Offa's Dyke LDP. On the 32 mile route there is a cut-off time of 1:50pm at checkpoint 3 - anyone arriving after that time will need to follow the 16 mile route back to Cilcain.

Route descriptions and gpx files for 2026

There are no changes to the routes for 2026 but we have redrafted the route descriptions. GPX files are based on the marshal's walks - CP3 is slightly further into the car park (between the entrance and exit barriers) than the gpx on the longer routes suggests. The cut-off time of 13:50 is the time you must leave CP3 to stay on the full 32 mile route. 

If you are doing one of the longer routes, there is an alternative shorter route from CP3 which uses the 16 mile route - this is described at the end of the route descriptions for both 32 and 24 routes, but you are recommended to download the 16 mile gpx as well as the gpx for your chosen route in advance in case you decide to switch. There is no mobile signal at CP3 so downloading on the day will not be an option.
