The George at Vernham Dean makes a good lunch stop. There is a grassy area with benches opposite the pub where sandwiches can be ingested. A suggested spot for mid-morning break is at the top of Hippenscombe SU290561 and afternoon break at track junction after Gammon's Farm SU276549
