Route
The Heritage Way finishes at Heatherdene, Bamford but the Derwent continues northwards to the moors of the Dark Peak. The valley has been exploited to hold water supplies in the shape of three dams Ladybower, Derwent and Howden which feed Sheffield and the East Midlands towns and cities. With submerged villages, a temporary 'Tin Town' for dam workers' families, and the story of the dambusters, WW2, this area is steeped in history. Listen for the distant hum of an approaching Lancaster

This walk takes in Win Hill, crosses the Snake, views of the dams, Fairholmes visitor centre, and the tors of Derwent Edge. With no river as such to follow this walk takes in the higher reaches of the valley sides
