Free c.p. on Station Street, Atherstone CV9 1DB (pls do not park on Aldi or Co-op c.p.)

From Atherstone (former centre of the hatting industry), follows the Coventry canal (with its unique style of sign writing), clockwise towards Mancetter (site of Roman pottery industry), onto Hartshill Hayes (where Mn was discovered), Ansley (renowned for ribbon making), Arley (whose coal was reputedly suppl to Victorian Royals), Fillongley (home of the silk weavers), Shustoke (with its pumping house), Nether Whitacre (home of the Jennen's Family), Hurley (with its mineral rlwy line), Baddesley, Merevale and finally Atherstone

General Notes
The trail's foundation is the historic network of ancient trks, drover's trks for livestock and goods for market and miners’ walk between home, work, friends, family and worship. Historically the parishes had strong connections with its neighbours via trading, supply of labour and materials. The trail particularly concentrates on the heritage from the C16th to present day
