JB opened the AGM and with RT checked/agreed the minutes from the previous AGM with agreement from everyone.
Financial Report
Statement of Accounts for the year ending 31 Oct 2024 agreed by all. (Cash in Bank £4,165.71, Income £6,491.40, Expenditure £5,583.17, Balance £5,073.94)
Walks Programme
SB thanked LY for GVC. Highlighted Youlgreave/thanked BB and Jerry. Walk numbers have increased - 22 for 2022, 27 walks for 2023 and 34 walks for 2024. SB thanked Shelly and Shaun for Friday walks. SB said we should offer a variety of walks but note 17-20 miles are the most popular. We have 16 Walk Leaders but should still encourage others to lead.
Appointment of Committee
No nominations so current committee to remain as is. With the addition of a new role; Group Walk Apprentice to be undertaken by RT to assist SB with the increase in workload. Lorraine Wood to become a General Committee Member as a key member of the The 100 Committee.
The Millstone 100, 2028
JB briefly mentioned this to raise awareness. Main tasks at the moment are ascertaining HQ, breakfast stop and route.
GVC
LY confirmed date, 4th Oct. Event is running smoothly so will continue as is with some amendments to CP times after reviewing last years first/last walkers/runners.
Guidance for Walk Leaders/Participants
LY asked people to let us know if they wish to attend a navigation course if this will encourage them to lead walks. Stuart was very encouraging to the group to come forward and raised lots of good points and assured them help would be offered
NEC
JB thanked Leaders who take a Register, this is good for insurance. The NEC are encouraging groups to look at ICE tags (South Manchester and Lakeland have
dog tags on their bags). JB reminded Leaders to think about the risk of their walk when planning as we are a very mixed ability group. Take into escape routes/weather. The more information on the website the better.
First Aid - agreed most seem to carry a kit.
Dogs - NEC Policy is if someone brings a dog it’s at the Leaders discretion as to whether they can join the walk. The owner must have third party insurance. LY reiterated it is the School policy no dogs on GVC, not ours.
AOB
JB raised the point of if we generate an income from The 100 will it have tax/VAT implications. It was agreed we’d ask The NEC to investigate/seek advice and confirm. Possibility of registering at HMRC as a Community Amateur Sports Club. Alec asked why our article re the 50th wasn’t in Strider. SB confirmed we’d contact the Editor to find out. Agreed if it’s going in the next issue we’ll send some photos in. Shaun asked if First Aid courses would be available. We’ll check with The NEC.
