Getting Here

By Car to Dover

You may find this Google traffic map helpful.

Duke of York's Royal Military School (CT15 5EQ) (DoYRMS) is just off the A2 approaching Dover so it is recommended that drivers use the M2 from London rather than the M20 and, from the west, switch motorways at Junction 7.  At the Duke of York's roundabout (the last before Dover) take the 3rd exit signed White Cliffs/Dover Castle and the school is immediately on the right.  There will be a security checkpoint just inside the entrance so be prepared for queues.  Please have your car pass readily displayed in your windscreen.  Parking is plentiful but please follow marshals’ directions.

Parking will be available from 3pm on Friday for anyone wishing to make their own way to Hastings ready for the Saturday start.  There is a bus stop right outside the school’s pedestrian exit.  There are two buses an hour to Dover bus station where there is a connection to buses to Hastings.  Buy a Dayrider ticket £6.70 which covers the whole journey and takes about 3 hours.  You could walk from the bus station to Dover Priory railway station and might save an hour if you connect with the hourly train via Ashford but it will be 4 x the price.

NB Drivers approaching accommodation elsewhere in Dover on the A20 are warned they may find a 40mph speed limit on the last 5 miles of dual carriageway to manage lorries approaching the docks.  It is voraciously enforced against British drivers so don’t be tempted by a foreign HGV thundering past - they’ll be out of the country before getting fined.

By Rail to Dover

Dover's train station is Dover Priory, about 2 miles from DoYRMS.  Those wishing to travel to Dover prior to travelling to Hastings by coach may want to check this timetable.

By Coach from Dover to Hastings

For those staying in Dover or arriving directly on Saturday morning, coaches will leave between 7.00 and 7.30 to arrive in Hastings by 9.00am.  Places should be booked and paid for (£10) with your entry.  Please allow plenty of time to pass through security, park, drop off your breakfast bag and board.  All walkers arriving by car are asked to leave any other bags in their car.  Parking will be close to changing rooms/showers.

By Car to Hastings

Sussex Coast College is adjacent to Hastings railway station.  There is a convenient drop-off point but no parking other than in the town's P&D car parks.

Getting Back

By Rail from Dover

On Sunday and Monday there is one bus an hour during the day from the finish into Dover.  However, it is planned that our minibuses will drop walkers at Dover Priory station when they are not required for other operations.  This service will be available for both the Marshals' Walk and the Main Event.  You can check London train times here.
