Dale Abbey village, nr small triangular green (on-street parking), just off A6096, between Derby and Ilkeston, Derbyshire

Created in 2010 to celebrate 75yrs of the Derby Nomad Ramblers, this route, circumnavigating the city of Derby, uses the Amber Valley, Erewash Valley and South Derbyshire, linking at least 20 villages, including Duffield, Breaston, Swarkestone, Shardlow and Etwall, to name but five, amidst industrial heritage, medieval features and many fine churches, as well as plenty of surprisingly good countryside. Waterways too: Derby Canal, Trent and Mersey Canal and the River Trent
