The Ashton, Peak Forest and Macclesfield canals make up APM, and whilst skirting foothills of the Western Peak formed a vital transportation link between the industrial powerhouses of Manchester and North Staffordshire. These days the legacy offers a fine canal-based route, with much of interest along the way

LDWA Walks

The LDWA organises many challenge events and local group social walks, as well as listing many more organised by other organisations. Challenge events are normally between 20 and 100 miles and must generally be completed within a defined time limit. Social walks are normally led walks of around 20 miles.
