General Notes
John Ronald Reuel Tolkien, the world-famous author of "The Hobbit" & "The Lord of the Rings", spent an important period of his early life in Staffordshire when he was posted to the Army training camps on Cannock Chase during the Great War. These walks (together with the Gipsy Green/Brocton Camp Walk, which will be staged on another occasion), commemorate those times.
