East Croydon to Oxted, Saturday 2nd April 201120 walkers, 21 miles - leader Peter Buchwald
Feeling the joys of spring on a sunny day
We meandered through suburban streets
Walked a drunkard's zigzag path
Through leafless woods, uphill and down
Until to Kenley came for lunch.
We waited long for slowly cooked food
Then continued past The Sun in Coulsdon South
At a church in Chaldon and a cruciform painted wall
We marvelled at Jacob's Ladder,
The sins of dancing girls and very rich men.
Past Alderstead Heath up to the North Downs Way
We walked through darkened woods
With panoramic views in grassy clearings
Until we stopped at Oxted for a pint of beer.
