Circling the Chiltern Hundreds, Saturday 27th November 20219 walkers, 23 miles - leader Jerome Ripp
A bitterly cold day with strong winds which quickly reduced the group to 8. A loop around Latimer Park high above the Chess valley followed by a series of small hills, Ley Hill, Maple Hill and Whelpley Hill. The area high above the Grand Union canal provided the winds with the opportunity to give us a good buffeting and an unexpected loop before heading off to Ashley Green for lunch in the sanctuary of the church.
The map says that the Chiltern Hundreds are just south of Ashley Green so we circled round the ridges and woodlands to the south west and then headed for the east side of Chesham to complete the process but a huge tree had come down in the winds and blocked a narrow path which necessitated a substantial reverse and replan before we got down to the Chess valley and a final stretch in the dark. 23 miles at this time of year made it a worthwhile day.
