YARROW VALLEY AND HEALEY NAB
11.3 miles. Start 10.00. The walk starts from the Yarrow Valley Country Park car park, off Birkacre Road (after Birkacre Garden Centre if approaching from centre of Chorley) -SD 570 151
Route follows the Yarrow through Duxbury Park then takes a short stretch along the Leeds Liverpool canal before climbing up Healey Nab. The route circuits the Nab giving views towards the West Pennine Moors then drops through farmland and a quiet lanes to the village of Limbrick and back along tracks to the canal. After about a mile the route leaves the canal and heads across an old mining area before returning to the river valley. As the path here can get very muddy and sometimes floods, the return route will climb out of the valley temporarily before dropping back to the country park and the car park.
A mostly sheltered route with lots of woodland – at this time of year paths can be wet / muddy so don’t forget your sticks if you use them. There are a couple of very short steep sections and a steady climb up Healey Nab, otherwise a pretty flat walk.
Max 20 walkers, please contact Jane (preferably by email) to register.
