Walk Report

My Local Area, Saturday 4th July 2020
6 walkers, 18 miles - leader Jerome Ripp
This was my 100th walk lead for the London group and a lovely surprise awaited me at the start at Norbiton station as Ian Fairweather had come to take a picture of the group and present me with a gift of appreciation from the Group committee: a very beautiful compass. Perhaps the group were dropping a gentle hint?
This was the first group walk to adhere to Covid 19 regulations so we were just 6 and given travel restrictions I used my local area. It was16 weeks since the last London group social walk led by Dave Williams and it seemed a fitting sense of continuity that his walk had featured a section of Richmond Park and Thames Path so my walk entered Richmond Park via Kingston Gate and we headed up to King Henrys' Mound to complete the link with that previous walk. Down to Richmond, Thames Path to Barnes Bridge, onto Barnes Common and join the Beverley Brook Trail via Palewell Park, another section of Richmond Park and then Wimbledon Common. A semi-circular route to avoid the golfers and via Caesar's Camp to Coombe before the final section of Richmond Park.
