The Godalming Gallop, Saturday 5th September 20206 walkers, 21.7 miles - leader Jerome Ripp
Ideal late summer weather for a long hike with the occasional gallop in the Surrey Hills. From Godalming station, we were soon in woodland, heathland and sandy tracks. Several sections of Greensand Way and short sections of Downs Link and Wey South path. Visited the Octavia Hill memorial seat on Hydon's Ball and by sheer coincidence met Steve Garnsey on a footpath; longer serving group members may remember that he and his partner Landy were regular walkers some years ago. A quiet delightful route with some glorious views especially near Thorncombe Street.
