Gone to the Dogs, Wednesday 12th August 20204 walkers, 6.8 miles - leader Pete Buffham
We followed the Thames Path up to Westferry, points of interest include the launch site of the Great Eastern steam ship, Millwall Dock and St John McDougall Gardens. At Westferry we took a look at the old police houses and the Dockmasters House then took the West India Dock footbridge noting a floating jacuzzi being used in the Dock. Crossed Canary Wharf thru to the South Dock and Millwall Inner Dock. We took East Ferry Rd and then followed the Thames path thru Cubitt Town with great views of the O2 and strangely a DJ set near Folly House Beach. Then headed south on the Manchester road, turning into Pier Street and into Mudchute Farm and Park, after a quick stop at the Anti-Aircraft Gun from WWII we then headed around the park then across Mudchute to Island Gardens then back to the Cutty Sark via the foot tunnel. It was a very hot and sticky evening; however we resisted the temptation to visit the many bars in the area.
Start time: 1800, Finish Time 2020. Approx. distance 6.8 miles
