Route
Southport - Freshfield via the Sefton Coastal path (part 1) . We will start at Southport Esplanade Park and Ride (PR8 1RR), SD32451705) which is £2 per car for all day. We will take a short detour to walk Southport pier ( 2nd longest in Britain) then commence onto the Sefton coastal path, passing through Birkdale hills (sand), Ainsdale Nature Reserve and onto our final destination Freshfield Station via the fisherman's path. Walking shoes rather than boots can be worn.
We will return via train (17mins) approx £3.90 full fare and then either catch the free park and ride bus back to the car park or if still feeling energised return on foot.
