I have a slight concern about the size of the car park on the embankment at Wellingborough, as some of it is shut due to the inclement weather. There is alternative, free, parking but the nearest is in town. It will take about 5 minutes to drive there and 10 minutes to walk back down to the embankment. The parking is available at the rear of The Castle theatre.
If anyone wishes to, or has to, use The Castle, I have sent a map showing how to get there (See News on BBN website for map).
Driving instructions are as follows –
From the Tesco roundabout, head into town and go uphill, past the schools, through the traffic lights at the top of the town and downhill to the next lights. Get on the right hand side and follow the road, Past the Golden Lion and around to right, passing the multi-storey car park. Keep in the “middle” lane (the right hand one is the entrance to the multi-storey) and follow around to the right. Immediately get into the left lane and take the exit on your left on the bend, towards the red brick building (The Castle). Follow the road to the left and around to the back of The Castle. (If you miss the entrance, get in right hand lane at lights and go around again)
To walk to the embankment -
Facing the rear entrance of The Castle, turn left through the double metal gates. Turn right and follow road, uphill, to t-junction. Turn left to traffic lights. Cross over and go straight ahead, downhill, passing the schools, Lidl, & the Dog & Duck to reach the Tesco roundabout. Turn left along the embankment. Car park is 100 metres on the right.
Good news is that there is a pub at lunch time, The Half Moon at Grendon.
