Walk Report
22 of us set off on the brisk walk from Lane End on a bright Sunday 22nd January at 8.30 after our leader Duncan assured us there was no mud on the walk; since the temperature was a bracing -6C we believed him.A quick march through Wheeler End and Horsley Green, across the M40 to Penley Wood, followed by a flirtation with the edge of Stokenchurch, led us to a refreshment break on some conveniently-sited logs near Lower Studdridge Farm.
Returning to Penley Wood we followed the sun-dappled path down to Gravesend before the steep climb up the back of Cobstone Hill, where we basked by the windmill and enjoyed the view over Turville.
After descending to the village we met, briefly, Clive's group on their more leisurely walk.
Crossing a muddy field led to a quick up-and-down which took us to Skirmett and over the hill to Moor End, before a return to Lane End at the same time as the other group.
We had plenty of time to enjoy Chris's wonderful soup before the AGM, which was (your choice) action-packed/entertaining/informative/soporific.
