London Parks Way Part 3 - Trafalgar Square to Cutty Sark, Saturday 11th July 201526 walkers, 24 miles - leader Rob Myers
It was a hot summer's day when 26 of us gathered in Trafalgar Square to walk the last 24 miles of the London Parks Way to Greenwich. The first stretch was urban through Covent Garden, then along the Regent's Canal from Kings Cross to Victoria Park. We then explored the highlights of Victoria Park before entering the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. We did a loop of the Olympic Park popping in to the Velodrome to watch a training session taking place. During our loop there was a lot of excitement in the park when the new Beach attraction opened for the first time. After lunch we walked via 3 Mills and the Limehouse Cut to Canary Wharf and a much needed drinks stop in the Wetherspoons. Then the route passed through the regenerated docklands and visited Mudchute City Farm which everybody enjoyed. Finally the route went through The Greenwich Foot Tunnel and after a tour of the highlights of Greenwich Park finished at the Cutty Sark. An excellent day's walk!
