A walk between a variety of IOW war memorials and other features, to commemorate the start of the Great War on 4th August 1914. This is a walk to commemorate the start of the Great War 100 years ago on the 4 August 1914.

0900 from Ventnor War Memorial. Down to the seafront and along to Bonchurch. Through the landslip and various paths to Shanklin Old Village War Memorial. Down to the seafront and along to Sandown War Memorial. Up to Apse Heath and back round to Wroxall War Memorial. We may be able to get a pint and a sandwich in Wroxall, but bring a snack and drink just in case!

Over the Downs to Ventnor Rugby Club. Back to Ventnor War Memorial for 1500, where Ventnor Royal British Legion are holding a commemorative event for about thirty minutes. After this all walkers are invited to join us at the Ventnor Royal British Legion for a drink. And after that, you are invited to join me for a Turkish Kebab (and/or an ice cream) on Ventnor beach
