Walk Report
We had amazing weather for my first lead. We visited five downland villages: Streatley, Ashampstead, Hampstead Norreys, Compton and Aldworth. It was a beautiful day's walk with the countryside in full autumnal colours. I hope the pictures speak for themselves, but it's just worth mentioning that Aldworth Church (picture no. 23) is famous for the Aldworth Giants, giant effigies of medieval knights believed to be life-size. The path in the next picture made legal history in 2008 when Goring resident Dr Leslie Drain successfully fought for its designation as a footpath.Text and photos by Helen Abbott.
