The footpath broadly follows the valleys of the rivers Dove and Gipping via Eye, Thorndon and Mendlesham. The start of the walk connects with the Angles Way whilst near the end of the route is the waymarked Gipping Valley River Path (17 miles and on OS mapping; road link) which takes the walker on to Ipswich.
