Hi Fellow Walkers...Just to let walkers know who would like to walk the Southwest way without having to carry a heavy backpack.
That i have found by using a car and sussing out the bus time tables and routes, The Exmoor Coaster, Atlantic Coaster, Lands End Coaster, Devon Coast Bus, Dorset breezes.
It makes the walk a lot easier just carrying a day pack, Bus out ,walk back to Accommadition , B/B or Camping. Drive to next stop ,walk -bus on each stage or vice or versa . Although it means a late start as most buses don't start until 10,00am on the SOMERSET TO PENZANCE ROUTE, But on the Penzance to Poole there are more evening service's ,so one can have an earlier start out, and bus back. There are only 5 places where there is no direct bus to the coast ,so walk half there and back, same again the next day ,or use a Taxi for the full distance .depends on the miles what one want's to walk each day.
No DIRECT buses to these places ON THE COAST WALK --From Hartland Village to Morwenstow go via Crimp---or Kilkhampton-----From -Lizard to Coverack-----From Portscatto to Gorran Haven --Bus to Ruan High Lanes walk to Portloe -- from Wembury area-South Hams , but buses from Plymouth to South Hams. Use a cycle there.lock it up plenty of places to hide a bike walk back, or walk half the distance there and walk back a different route usually shorter Do the same next day from the other end of your distance. Any way one will soon sus it all out.
No Buses from- Lulworth Cove to Worth Matravers -- Arthur --Ripon
