I have always prefered Paramo jackets as they almost always keep me dry. They also dry out quickly so I do not need another evening jacket on holidays when its been a very wet day.
They have a reputation of being too warm but various summer weights are now availalbe. However, if you are a very fast walker they may always be too warm, Some versions have long ventialtion zips
You have to reproof them after 5 washes and wash then after about 5 walks.
If you have a Paramo water repellant fleece under them you will always be dry.
I find I need gloves more with Paramo than with other waterproofs.
the winter weights jackets and trousers last for years, off setting the price.
You can look for paramo seconds on the web if you are short of cash. They are often branded for an organisation with the badges removed if the contract is cancelled
I bought the first version decades ago and now almost everyone in my walking club is a paramo fan.
