A Very British Map: The Ordnance Survey Story.
BBC4 9th September, available on iPlayer for 28 days.

A 'Timeshift' programme on the origins and history of the Ordnance Survey, featuring ex-OS employees from the 50s and 60s and beyond (more gender-balanced than most, it was said), lots of clips showing hand-drawing of maps (two years per sheet), triangulation and trig points (yes, someone is visiting all of them), the introduction of digitisation, collectible paper maps, map historians, map addicts, geographers, GPS vs paper (they're SO hard to fold). And satnav.

Iain.
