In addition to Tony's advice:

Corbridge is accessible by both a regular bus (685) and train service from Carlisle and Newcastle.

Wallsend/Tynemouth easily reached by bus/metro from Newcastle.

Given the choice, I'd certainly use Corbridge as a base for your car.

Main problem with the walk is the return to Carlisle from Bowness by public transport. as there is an infrequent bus service and the taxi-bus only runs on Sundays.

If you intend stopping your last night in Bowness, then the return to Calrisle and Corbridge won't be a problem.

The HW bus is an excellent service but only runs from Good Friday to October.

Buses run from Carlisle to Newcastle via Corbridge - see http://www.arrivabus.co.uk/uploadedfiles/Services/North_East/neje685,X85_010712_090712.pdf .
The Metro from Newcastle to Wallsend is easy and regular - seehttp://www.nexus.org.uk/mymetro.

Also look at the Hadrians wall website which also gives details of the section between Bowness and Carlisle - see http://www.hadrians-wall.org/page.aspx//Interactive-Map/Hadrian's-Wall-Country-Bus.

Good luck.

Planning to do Hadrian's Wall next April. How easy is it to get public Transport from Bowness back to Wallsend/Tynemouth please?

Would parking in Corbridge ( at Friends) be a viable option to get to the start, and get back to from the finish?

Thanks

I've done it in both directions. Any particular questions you have?

A couple of us are starting it again tomorrow, from Tynemouth itself, in day trips using public transport as much as possible over the following Saturdays so I can keep you updated on any problems.

It seems more logical to locate this thread in the LDPs.
