Urban myth, the ground on the farm was unsuitable for road building. Easier and cheaper to go around.

"the guy who wouldn't sell out to accommodate the motorway"

Truth or urban myth? ;-)

A first time for me and really enjoyable on a sunny August Saturday. Plenty of moors as you would expect and the route must have the highest concentration of reservoirs of any Challenge walk in England. Mind boggled at notice adjacent to one : "Do not pollute, this is your drinking water!" Interesting to walk past the farm surrounded by the M62, north and south carriageway - the guy who wouldn't sell out to accommodate the motorway.

Great catering and thanks to all the Irregulars.
