THERE ARE CHANGES THIS YEAR

The route of Capability’s Overview, the annual challenge walk over farmland and country estates on the Yorkshire Wolds, is largely off footpath and always carries the warning that the route may change according to land use and stocking.

This year’s event from Sledmere next Sunday (May 15) will see changes after requests from farmers to avoid new livestock in two of the dales. Entrants are advised to note the changes in revised route descriptions issued at the start. Organisers Sledmere Parish Church Council say the changes will add new views to the 23-mile scenic route with heavy blossom and oilseed rape adding extra colour to The Wolds this year.

The event starts from Sledmere Village Hall at 8.30am and the entry fee of £10 (£12 on the day) includes badge, certificate and refreshments. Entries to Ann Southwick, Triton Cottage, Sledmere, Driffield YO25 3XQ. Tel: 01377 236633.
