Alston. Parking and the start of the walk at the Alston Recreation Ground car park, at the top end of the town, beginning of the Nenthead Road, nearest post code CA9 3SW. Rachael Musgrove will be leading a Northumbria LDWA group walk for the first time

Alston, Garrigill, Ashgill force, Leadgate, Kirkhaugh and back to Alston. Dogs welcome on leads. Although this walk starts at the highest town in all England, this is mid December, so the route stays in the valleys, largely keeping away from exposed high ground. The walk will take about 8 hours. In the week prior to the walk please keep an eye on the Northumbria LDWA website and emails in case of any weather related changes to the plan

General Notes
As the title suggests, feel free to bring mulled wine and sweet mince pies for festive nourishment along the route. Christmas hats, jumpers, socks, or even just a cheeky festive twinkle in the eye are also encouraged. Dawn 7:45am, Dusk 16:28pm, bring a torch just in case
