Newsletter - January 2024
Happy New Year!
Hi everyone,
Welcome to a new year of long distance walking. I'll begin by wishing you all a happy new year, and thank those you who attended our Annual General Meeting, xmas meal and walk. It was lovely seeing so many friends in the Bear Hotel in Devizes. Thanks too, to Andy Todd for making the arrangements, and to Carol Holmes for leading the walk. Dave Purdy and Lucy Robins were duly elected as Treasurer and Walks Secretary. It looks like Lucy was able to fill many dates in our walking programme. If you offered a date, please contact her with the walk details as soon as possible. I volunteered four dates, so I'd better get my thinking cap on, and come up with some walks. We have committee meeting scheduled for 5th January 2024. The agenda is likely to focus on the handovers for the aforementioned roles, as well as the Pewsey Downsaround.
Some of the discussion at the xmas meal was regarding the e-mails we've all been receiving from various officers in the LDWA, with our members saying they were difficult to understand. Clearly they've not been written with their audience in mind. I said I would use this newsletter to 'decipher' some of the content in those e-mails. The first few weeks of my retirement haven't been quite as relaxing as I was hoping, so I will include an explanation in the February edition of this newsletter.
