Pewsey Downsaround 2024 - Information
About the event
This year's event takes place on Sunday 28th April 2024. Online registration for this popular event has opened.
It's a circular walk on footpaths and bridleways with beautiful views across the Vale of Pewsey and Marlborough Downs, that passes many famous sites including Avebury Stone Circle, Silbury Hill and the Wansdyke.
Actual distances are as follows:
- 35-mile route is 35.4 miles;
- 26-mile route is 26.6 miles;
- 17-mile route is 16.9 miles; and
- 10-mile route is 10.6 miles
Start from the Pewsey Scout Hut (Grid reference SU162601).
Participants must have a mug, compass and one of the following maps on them on the day:
- OS Explorer 157 or
- OS Landranger 173
Please bring a mug with you ... and help us do our bit for the environment by not using single-use plastics.

Registration
On arrival please go to any desk and give your name. You will be issued with a tag that will be scanned electronically. Have the tag available for scanning at all the checkpoints and at the finish, where it must be handed back.
Participants are requested to remove their dirty boots when entering the scout hut on their return from the walk.
There will be no paper certificates available this year. They will be e-mailed to entrants instead following the event.

Checkpoint opening and closing times are as follows:

Parking

There are two car parks in Pewsey: North Street Car Park (SN9 5ES), in Goddard Street, is nearest to PDA HQ; and Hallgate House Car Park (SN9 5AS) is a short walk away in Broomcroft Road.
There is also a car park at Pewsey railway station. |
