The Wessex XXX Anytime Challenge

Saturday 1st May to Sunday 1st August 2021

Our annual New Forest Challenge Event could not take place this year. In its place is this unsupported Anytime Challenge which can be undertaken at a time and date convenient to you.

The figure-of-eight route starts and finishes in the historic city of Winchester and lies almost wholly within the beautiful South Downs National Park, and as the name suggests, is 30 miles in length. The start location is Winchester Leisure Centre car park (grid ref SU483301, postcode SO23 7DD)

The Wessex XXX is an old LDWA challenge event, first appearing in 1977 and running for the last time in 1987. The route was featured in the December 2020 edition of Strider.

Please note that the event is unsupported and there will be no Marshalls on the route or at the old checkpoint locations. You will need to observe any covid19 regulations in force at the time.
There are plenty of facilities at Winchester (including public toilets) and a pub awaits at around the 20-mile mark.
