Dear Wilts member,

We have a date of 6th December set aside for our AGM, with meal and walk, but this can't now happen, for reasons you know by now. Please keep the date in your diary, though.

The National Executive Committee (NEC) has recognised the local groups' difficulty in holding meaningful AGMs under current distancing rules so has amended the constitution to allow AGMs to be deferred and officers to be co-opted, but only during the pandemic.

For Wilts this means that, to keep things running and to keep in contact:
  • the committee will co-opt new officers to replace those standing down, until the situation changes
  • so that members can discuss any matters with officers we will still hold a walk on 6th December with Bruce and myself happy to talk while walking, plus Carol and Richard with groups of 6 at Carol's mince pie stop, as any other kind of gathering is banned
  • members will receive brief email reports from Chair and Treasurer at end of November

Sadly, both Richard, our treasurer and Carol, our co-opted secretary are both unable to walk with us as they would like to at present and feel that will leave them out of touch with the members they represent. They are therefore standing down from 6th December. I'm sure that you'll want to keep in touch anyway.
We're really grateful for the work they've done for us.

So:
  • We invite volunteers for the posts of Treasurer and Secretary.
  • We'd love to hear from volunteers by end of October but end of November is the final deadline. Co-option is at the committee's discretion. Potential volunteers please contact any officer to discuss.
  • We'd also like a leader for the 6th Dec walk. Please contact Bruce. The walk will be subject to government restrictions at the time, of course.
  • A "proper" AGM will be reconsidered when Covid allows it. In any case the NEC will review their amendment by 30/9/21.
Your committee has been working much harder for you in this difficult year. At last, with your help, we have a very good program of walks to show for it. Please help us to keep the ball rolling and let's hope the rules stay positive for us.

Enjoy your walking.
