Our good news is reinstated!  Our walks of up to 30 people can continue.

This week's government announcement on maximum gathering numbers of six left some uncertainty for LDWA  walks, just when we thought it was clear.

Our National Executive Committee has meanwhile obtained clarification from the government that the exemption they had already negotiated for LDWA walks still applies.

So, thankfully, we're back to where we were last week. Please refer to Bruce's email of 31st August for the rules status, summarised as:

  • LDWA walks of up to 30 people can still be legitimately held
  • Leaders can decide on their own maximum
  • Walks of six or less do not require the risk analysis
  • Local restrictions may apply

With the increased emphasis on enforcement and the possibility of questions to larger groups from people we meet, it would be wise for leaders to carry their risk assessment as evidence of our exemption.

We already have ten walks scheduled under these rules.  That's marvellous!  If your would like to join one but feel that the group is too large, why not contact the leader in case there is a way of staying in a smaller sub-group, or the walk doesn't fill up?

Walks are on the Wiltshire website, the national one is incomplete.  There are vacancies for leaders and walkers.

Let's hope these rules will stick for a while now.

See you there
