Santa's Home From America

Icy but Nice

Once again, Jim organised us a fantastic Christmas walk and lunch from the ever popular Eagle and Child in Staveley.

The weather was kind to those of us who walked in the morning -  a beautiful walk across by Potters Tarn and down to Garnett Bridge took us along Longsleddale and back over the shoulder of Potters Fell.

The change of clothes was the usual wrestle in the car park and we swapped Ron Hills for Frills (and that's just the boys) and added lipstick and lace (probably the girls but who knows).

The meal was superb and just when the mince pies had pushed us over the edge and we knew for sure we could eat no more ........ out came the cake to celebrate our Chairman's 60th birthday!

Dave was delighted.  "Oh no, that's the fourth cake" he said!  Thank goodness for grandchildren.

It was a lovely occasion, enjoyed by us all and we are already looking forward to 2010's version.  (Anyone got a birthday or special event around Feb 2010 because we'd all love to go for more cake!)
