Two Roses Way Part 1

This was the first of a six part route taking in the highlights of Lancashire and Yorkshire, so it was fitting that we had a good mix of Lancastrians and Yorkshiremen along for the walk - with a few reprobates from Cumbrian thrown in for good measure.  The Cumbrian's arrived by mini bus courtesy of Burneside local community bus, ably driven by Dave Shepherd.

There was  a all too brief sighting of Gill, from Lancaster itself.  She turned up but soon headed for home - no not because of the weather; she'd forgotten her boots!

Caroline made it across from North Yorkshire, and entertained us all day with tales of knickers as per usual.

The walk was lofty and airy (just like the knickers) with wonderful views (unlike the knickers) of dark satanic milltowns and the three peaks area.  We could have been thwarted by a little rain, but luckily it arrived close on lunch so we bolted into the cafe in Barley and bacon butties were enjoyed by all.  Well, nearly all, Ron and Ann were being thugs in the car park, rearranging all the furniture just so they could have a butty in the bus shelter (sorry Pendle council).

Pendle was never far from sight all day, as we walked round and over the edge of it.  Also some beautiful reservoirs, if that isn't a contradiction in terms, were seen along the way.

To make it just perfect we finished at the pub in Gisburn, and had a drink or three whilst we waited for Dave to nip back for the mini bus (he had a lift, we didn't make him walk!)

See you all for part two on Sunday 9 November.
