General Notes
Please come and join us in the Durham Dales for what will be a fabulous weekend away, walking the Durham Dales Challenge walk on Saturday, with a shorter walk on Sunday. There is plenty of accommodation in the area, some in Wolsingham itself, others a little further out. Obviously, it's best to do your own research online, but here are a few suggestions and ideas. Hotels: The Brown Horse Hotel at Tow Law ( approx 3.5 miles out of Wolsingham), The Bay Horse in the village itself, & the Fir Tree Country Hotel ( approx 5 miles away). Prices ranged from £170 upwards for 2 people for 2 nights on a bed and breakfast basis. YHA: There are two youth hostels in the area. Edmundbyers Youth Hostel is around 14 miles from Wolsingham, & Alston around 16 miles away. Price is roughly £34 per person per night, self catering. Cottages: Get a few friends together & book a cottage for the weekend in the centre of Wolsingham. Then its a short stroll away to the start of the challenge on Saturday morning. Rates vary for the weekend, but as example Acacia House which sleeps 4 was around £260. B&B's : Not researched, but I imagine they will be plentiful. Like the Challenge entry, sorting your accommodation/travel is your own responsibility. I expect we may all get together on Saturday evening for a drink in a local pub, possibly dinner. Nothing has been arranged as yet, but the website will be updated if that happens. Look forward to seeing you all.
