SPRINGWOOD

Springwood Picnic Site  - Tuesday 11th. December 2012

On the calendar this looked like just another walk, but as it happened, on this occasion fortune favoured us,

as we were treated to a glorious clear frosty day.

In perfect walking conditions, Sue led our group of 17 round the edge of Whalley Golf Course to Wiswell. After a short road section we headed up to the Nick of Pendle, admiring clear views extending from the Yorkshire 3 Peaks to the east, to the Lancashire coastline on the west.

Taking advantage of a sunny spot, we had our lunch in what someone described as being spring like conditions, before crossing the valley and over the ridge to Read Hall.  From there we descended to the River Calder at Cock Bridge then along the river bank and over Whalley Nab.

It seemed a shame to have to drop down into Whalley and go back to our cars and end such a lovely walk.

A super 10 mile walk. Thanks Sue.
