Free Parking: To get to the car park please follow "Three sisters road" off Lockett Road, Ashton in Makerfield. Go to the end of three sisters road and turn right before the race track and go under a height control barrier. Parking is available to the left. There is also a car park straight on a little further, by the three sisters lake but this soon gets full. Grid Ref SD 582 010. Post code WN4 9GD. An easy mainly flat walk along woodland trails and canal tow path taking in the nature reserve, Virador woods and the Leeds Liverpool canal, with a little bit of mining history thrown in for good measure

The LDWA organises many challenge events and local group social walks, as well as listing many more organised by other organisations. Challenge events are normally between 20 and 100 miles and must generally be completed within a defined time limit. Social walks are normally led walks of around 20 miles.
