LDWA LANCASHIRE WAY EASTERN LOOP DAY 4

Walk Details:
DAY 4 - Stage 9 and 10. Cliviger Gorge (GR 895 267) to Edenfield (GR 800 182) via Whitworth. 17.25 miles - 7 hours walking – 2,422ft of ascent. Quite a hard day.
Great moorland walking along the border between Lancashire and Yorkshire and Greater Manchester to the most SE point in Lancashire – the village of Whitworth. Then it is up and over Rooley and Scout Moor into Edenfield near Ramsbottom.
Meet at 9am at the junction of the A646 (Rossendale Road) and A682(Manchester Road) – Postcode BB11 5NH. Come off the M65 at J9 and follow the A646 signposted to Halifax. Ample parking on the road just before the junction. Take sufficient cars to Ratten Clough lay bye on the A646 just after Holme Chapel (GR 889 270) i.e. the finishing point on the last day, which is about 10 minutes away. At the end of the day catch bus service 483 outside the Duckworth Arms on the A56 to Rawtenstall bus station. Then catch the X43 to the Summit bus stop at the crossroads of the A646 and the A682 in Burnley. Both bus services are very frequent and the overall journey should be no more than 45 minutes.
