Thames Valley LDWA Updates, July 2021
Thames Valley LDWA Updates, July 2021

Hi. A few issues, partly resulting from a recent committee meeting

1.  Social Walks

While it is still difficult to find leaders (email tv.walks@ldwa.org.uk  if you can help), we do now have a full A programme till the end of August and are endeavouring to also have slower Sunday 'B' and Wednesday walks. Sometimes these are filled at very short notice, so PLEASE KEEP CHECKING THE WEBSITE.

We are also planning a picnic at Maidensgrove Common on August 15th with the A and B walks meeting at the end. If anyone if willing to contribute a cake or anything else, please reply to this email

2. Challenge Walks

Some challenge walks are restarting, e.g. one in Kent on July 11th . Again please check the LDWA  or SI Entries websites regularly if interested

3. 2022 Oxon Walks

These will again be from Stokenchurch on 30 April 2022. Given that the last catered Oxon was in 2019, we have an opportunity now to revise the event and given comments received from marshals in the past, we propose a simpler catering format in 2022, with food concentrated at Stokenchurch and only drinks and snacks elsewhere. Entry numbers will also be lowered to reduce the catering requirements amongst other concerns such as parking. While we will approach members regarding normal marshalling at a later stage, we do at this stage need volunteers to come forward for some key positions:

Huw Davies will coordinate the event in 2022 but will be stepping down for future years. We are thus looking for someone to understudy him in 2022 with view to taking over in 2023

We also need to identify checkpoint managers and caterers for the checkpoints on the route. As mentioned above, these will be less arduous roles than previously

If you are willing to help with these positions or any other aspect of the event, please reply to this email.

4. Dates for your Diary

Xmas Party tentatively booked for 12th December 2021 and AGM for 23rd January 2022. Both at Lane End.
