Thames Valley LDWA

Hi. We're trying to keep you up to date during this period of group inactivity. Yesterday was our AGM on Zoom and thanks to those who attended and returned forms. Minutes will be available in due course. The LDWA Group AGM will be held on 7 March https://ldwa.org.uk/agm/agm.php

1. New Committee Members

Duncan Macgregor has replaced Maureen as Secretary and Sarah Easingwood-Wilson has taken over from Mike as treasurer. We are in the process of transferring over emails so please don't use the 'secretary', 'treasurer' or 'tv.ldwa' email addresses for the next week or so or reply directly ti this email. In the meantime Duncan can be contacted on duncan.tvldwa@gmail.com

2. Virtual 100

We've been asked to highlight this event in the May Bank Holiday which replaces the normal event. You have a choice of doing the official 100 route in Monmouthshire (obviously dependant on whether travel is permitted), a previous 100 or your own route, which could be loops from your house.  There is no prequalifier and you only need to do 50 mls in 2 days to qualify for next years 100!   More details at   https://www.ldwa.org.uk/2021Hundred

3. Strider Articles Needed

Graham Smith (striding2017@gmail.com) is urgently in need of contributions to the April  Strider. Something to occupy your time and mind perhaps - walking during lockdown, anytime challenges etc etc. Please send to him by the end of January

4. Car Parks and Public Transport

One response to crowded car parks in the past few months has been for more to impose charges. Of those we frequently use, the main ones affected are at Hambleden (both), Wycombe Garden Centre and Cookham - there may be more. So when planning a future walk (which of course you can do at the moment!), please check this. We'd also like, at least on Wednesdays, to encourage more start points that allow at least some of us to come by public transport.

5. Walks

Just so everyone is aware, there will be no social walks or other  LDWA events until we enter Tier 2. We would plan to reintroduce Rule of 6 walks at that time so will need many leaders. This includes the planned Anytime Oxon 20/40, details of which are at  https://ldwa.org.uk/ThamesValley/E/24205/oxon-4020-2021-anytime-challenge.html.
