Dear Member,

Following the storms in February when the Met Office issued Amber weather warnings for the main areas that would be affected, the committee contacted the NEC to ask if they had any guidelines that could be implemented during any future weather disruptions.  This is their response:

At yesterday’s NEC meeting, it was agreed that the guidelines to challenge events and guidelines to leading social walks needed to be updated with Met Office references. The NEC agreed that any red warning should automatically see an event or social walk cancelled but that there might be a degree of flexibility with amber warnings. I.E. the route is known not to go near water and the weather warning is for floods but it is deemed appropriate to walk the route as there will be no danger based on the route chosen.

Best regards
